What Is Integrative Counselling?

Integrative counselling means I draw from different therapeutic approaches to support you as an individual, because no two people experience life in exactly the same way. Rather than following one fixed approach, I consider you as a whole person — your experiences, relationships, thoughts, feelings and the circumstances that have shaped you.

My work may include person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT-informed approaches, helping us shape therapy around what feels most helpful for you.

Person-centred therapy provides a safe, accepting and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is happening for you, at your own pace. I believe that feeling genuinely heard and understood is an important part of the therapeutic process.

Psychodynamic thinking can help us explore whether experiences from your past, relationships or patterns that have developed over time may be influencing how you feel or respond in the present.

CBT-informed approaches can help us look at the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours, particularly where unhelpful patterns may be contributing to how you are feeling now.

A flexible approach, shaped around you. There is no “one size fits all” approach to counselling. Some people may benefit from simply having the space to talk and be heard, while others may find it helpful to explore patterns, develop new perspectives or consider practical ways of managing difficult thoughts and feelings.
We can work together to understand what you need from therapy and adapt our approach as your needs change. You don't need to know which type of therapy you need before you begin. That's something we can explore together.
